We are fortunate at Nursling Primary School to have a range of technology across our school including iPads, Learnpads, large touch-screen whiteboards and netbooks. Such technology is enabling our pupils to participate in an exciting, contemporary Computing curriculum, as well as allowing teachers to embed the use of technology as a learning tool across the curriculum.

Following the disapplication of the old ICT Curriculum, our curriculum has been written around five strands of learning: Multimedia, Programming, Online, Online Safety and Data.

Here are a selection of the programs and applications we use across KS1 and KS2 in our Computing curriculum:

MIT's Scratch - Developed to help introduce learners to the world of coding, Scratch is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) based programming language. Pupils in KS2 use Scratch to develop their own computer games of increasing complexity which draw upon fundamental aspects of programming such as variables, loops and conditions. Kodu – Microsoft have developed Kodu, which allows pupils to program their own games in their own 3D worlds which they can sculpt using the landscape building tool. Key coding concepts such as loops, conditions and variables are incorporated. Kodu can be download free from
